However, an opportunity to attend a school to learn about the fine points of fashion merchandising can only increase one’s professional experience, and the chance for success in a highly competitive industry.

Many people believe that the only places to go to learn about fashion merchandising are in New York City, Paris or Milan. However, some of the greatest schools exist outside of these expensive fashion havens. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Ashland and Baton Rouge all are home to top-tier fashion institutions, and that is just naming a few. If you are truly dedicated to pursuing an education geared toward fashion, there may be several appealing options within close reach. All it takes is a creative eye, a thirst for learning, and some basic business smarts, and you can find your way into an institution that will give you all the tools you need to succeed.

You will see stars that commemorate great contributions of various actors and actresses in the world of media and entertainment.

Fashion merchandising school is an ideal option

While virtually no human on this earth can claim that they have never heard of fashion design, very few know of the concept of merchandising. It is one of those things that affects everybody, but is seldom pointed out. A dictionary-style definition of merchandising is the planning and promotion of sales by presenting a product to the right market at the proper time, by carrying out organized, skillful advertising. In other words, it is the strategic way in which a product is exposed to its potential buyers. Without intuitive merchandising, even the most exceptional work in fashion design is almost useless.

Fashion merchandising school is an ideal option for those that think they have what it takes to succeed in the fast-paced fashion industry. At a fashion merchandising school, students can learn all of the techniques of sales, promotion, merchandise marketing and advertising in the nurturing environment of a classroom. Merchandising schools also provide opportunities for exposure to top designers, advertising executives and professors who have had ample experience in the fashion industry. Additionally, attending a school gives you an opportunity to really learn without the immediate pressure of the working world of fashion as a distraction.

It is perfectly ok if you want to splurge on a men’s watch. A watch is something very important to you in a personal sense. You need to be able to tell time and many watches boast other features you use daily. It is ok to spend a lot on a watch since this item can last for years with the proper care. Another reason a large chunk of your budget can go to this item is due to its high visibility. Your watch is something you need and it’s a great way to make a fashion statement. Purchasing a high-end watch will dress up even your basic apparel.

The USA is one of the places to come in mind if you think of the word fashion. You’ll find out that they have several fashion weeks and are considered as the home of different designer pieces. But the truth is these US fashion capitals offer more aside from fashionable clothing to consumers.

Tourists are always on search for the best spots they can visit. If you are among these tourists who are only looking for the best places to visit, the following are some locations these fashion capitals offer to every guests around the world.

New York has been world renowned because of its New York Fashion week and wide array of celebrity designers’ boutiques. Splurging on your wallet may feel a little strange since you don’t think about it that much, but it is seen by the public more than you may realize. Every time you pay for something you pull out your wallet. You are holding your wallet in your hand usually for several minutes during a checkout process. You want your wallet to give a good impression. Some of your most valuable assets end up in your wallet such as credit cards, cash, and identity cards. Fashion and entertainment have gone even further than talent interconnection

Things to consider when looking for a good designer handbag for traveling purposes:

The number one factor to consider is safety when looking for a travel bag. This is not only referring to the safety of the people you are travelling with or yourself, but also the safe keeping of your passport, travel documents, personal belongings and currency. A travel designer handbag should contain your most valued travel items such as credit cards, passport, hotel key, traveler checks and other forms of travel ID. A travel handbag should be designed with strong, secure straps, inner storage and magnetic or zippered closures. A good number of vacation travelers will even carry a money pouch hidden beneath their clothes to further deter would-be thieves.

Tips for spotting real designer handbags before buying them:

In large metropolitan fashion capitals such as Paris, London, LA, New York, Madrid or Toronto it may seem like it would be simple to find an authentic handbag but looks can be deceiving. Unfortunately, the uncontrolled sale of fake handbags is an easy profit for street sellers and flea market merchants who really do not care who they victimize to make some quick cash. If you have bought a designer brand name handbag in any of these cities from a street vendor, chances are that it is not an original. The actual location of the sale should the first red flag you should be aware of when trying to spot an authentic designer handbag. Some quick tips on spotting fake merchandise.

However, fashion and entertainment have gone even further than talent interconnection, they have moved increasingly towards content interaction. America’s Next Top Model, for example, is pretty much a direct collaboration between the television and fashion worlds to deliver entertainment-based content. The program makes would be fashion models stars and celebrities and the process of modeling into entertainment.

Another type of example of content interaction can be seen in Sex and the City, in which the characters’ love, devotion and work for the fashion industry is one of the main focal points for the series and film plots. The stars of the show and now movies have become synonymous with the fashion world, promoting their own particular fashion tastes as well as acting as endorsements for interest in the fashion world in general. Plenty of other shows and films have followed suit with this interconnection, including Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada, which was originally a book.

This is a peculiar pet peeve of mine

Loud Designer Labels – This is a peculiar pet peeve of mine. I don’t fancy being a walking billboard and neither must you. It’s not a stylish look. Just because you are wearing a designer’s label on your chest, sleeve, or anywhere, doesn’t make you classy. Keep it discreet and straightforward.

Backpacks at the Office – I work in an exceptionally upscale apartment building in Chicago, filled with lawyers and other professional sorts, and it never ceases to astonish me how many men wearing fine suits are carrying backpacks. Unless you are a student or are climbing up a mountain, leave the backpack at home. If you require something for your gym outfit, buy a nice looking gym bag (and there are alternatives that don’t have huge emblems on them), or if you need something to hold your various documents, mobile phone, day-planner, etc., get a nice messenger bag.

Option Three – finding an internship before you go. I recently came across a company who arranges 18 month internships with amazing companies in the USA. If you have the qualifying experience, usually a fashion degree or diploma or 18 months fashion work experience you can apply. The amazing thing with these internships is that you get a Visa to work for a whole 18 months with one company and you also get paid a salary while you work (and there are more benefits on arrival too!). There are some costs to get your visa and your travel costs as you would expect but the fact that you have a guaranteed job when you arrive and 18 months experience with one company is a great deal. The internships that I have seen are really comprehensive and take you thru an 18 month program, so you clearly learn the ropes – not pack boxes and run errands.

What can you expect when you return! Overseas experience is great and many employers are happy when you Gen Y’s have the ‘travel bug’ out of your system. The solid experience that you get from an internship would be considered like working in a full time job and the knowledge you have gained is highly attractive to Australian Fashion employers.

Have you ever dreamed about working in a fashion apprenticeship overseas?

Have you ever dreamed about working in a fashion apprenticeship overseas? Imagine the glamour and prestige of having an apprenticeship at a top New York, LA or San Francisco fashion house on your CV? Imagine securing a job before you set off into the sunset…

I have just found out that it’s possible! In the competitive world of fashion you need to look at a point of difference; an experience and life skill that is going to set you apart from the graduating masses from Australian Uni’s, Tafe’s and Private Colleges. The short of it is you all qualify to work in the industry, it’s just the jobs are so few and far between you need to be able to show a future employer you’ve got something different to offer… So let me tell you a few ways that you can get some savvy o.s experience and knock the socks off any employer in fashion when you return…

Experience is ultimately the key when it comes to a fashion career. Following school – or even during – it is imperative that you begin a fashion career with an internship or apprenticeship with an established design house. Building a reputable portfolio that demonstrates your talent, skill, and experience is paramount to making a name for yourself in this competitive industry. Work with people for whom you have a respect and learn as much as you can while you have the opportunity. Even better, reputable designers operate within a vast network of equally talented people; you will often have the opportunity to meet and work with other designers as you go.

Building experience such as this can often jumpstart your fashion career and allow you to begin working on independent projects. More importantly, you will build a reputation for yourself and that is, by far, is the most significant thing you can achieve in order to be successful.

For those who have the ability, drive, and determination, a fashion career can be an amazing journey filled with success, self-satisfaction – and great clothes!

Choosing your plus size fashion tops

If you have a lot of time before the wedding, then look for sales at wedding shops. Many wedding dresses go on sale after the month of June. Wedding veils are cheaper than the wedding dress, so go ahead and spend more on a great veil when you can save money on the wedding dress.

Choosing a wedding dress is one of the bride’s biggest decisions, next to choosing her groom. Many brides start searching for the perfect wedding dress as early as a year before the wedding day. The perfect dress makes for the perfect day.

The first rule of thumb when selecting plus size fashion tops is to think vertical, not horizontal. Vertical stripes and bold buttons down the front of a plus size fashion top is a way of “thinking vertical”. Vertical stripes draw the eye up and down, not side to side and can give you a thinner appearance.

Choose the right size fashion top to fit your body. The goal is to find fashion tops that hug your body and enhance your curves. Avoid fashion tops that fit to tightly as they emphasize problem areas and will make you feel self-conscious. At the same time, you don’t want your fashion tops to be too baggy either. Just because you’re plus size, doesn’t mean you have to hide your body. Choosing the proper fitting plus size fashion top will allow you to show off your beautiful curves in a classy and chic manner.

Stick to classic designs and clean cuts when choosing your plus size fashion tops. These types of fashion tops help define a full figured body and work best for our curves. Don’t be afraid of color! This fall offers a dazzling display of color in plus size fashion tops. While black may be slimming, color can add pizzazz! Select colors in shades that are flattering to your skin tone and body type.

Plus size fashion tops have come a long way from the frumpy

All women are beautiful, and any woman who knows a few tricks can let that beauty shine through to look her best. Of course, this applies to plus size women, too! Like Oprah and Delta Burke have proven, beauty has absolutely nothing to do with dress size.

Plus size fashion tops have come a long way from the frumpy, tent-shape garments of just a few short years ago. Designers are now creating beautiful plus size fashion tops in a variety of styles, fabrics and colors. For less than the cost of dinner at a fine dining establishment, the proper plus size fashion top can turn a plain outfit into a “wow” outfit. Fashion tops are the perfect solution to hiding problem areas or accentuating areas such as the bust or neck. The following fashion guideline can help you determine which plus size fashion top is best for you.

After all it is your wedding, and you will want to look and feel great in a dress you like. After the first round of consultations at bridal salons, you will hopefully have narrowed down your choices to a few dresses. You may even be in the privileged position of having fallen in love with just one dress. Now is the time to bring other people in. Get advice from your mother, your bridesmaids, and other gal pals to help you make your final decision and choose and alterations and accessories.

While this may seem like a lot of information to take in, shopping for a wedding dress is definitely a lot of fun. Keep an open mind and a positive attitude, and you should find the one special dress sooner than you think.

Fashion school insiders relate that professional instructors

One of my favorite designers is Carolina Herrera. At a young age it’s said she liked to “play” with clothing. Born into a wealthy family Carolina was surrounded by things of beauty. Her sense of style was instilled at a very young age. She obviously continues to carry the sense of elegance that surrounded her in her youth into her life and her fashion design.

Her fashion designs are always timeless and classic. Carolina learned about fashion at an early age from her mother and other glorious women around her. She was surrounded by couture fashion growing up and attended her first fashion show at the age of 13.

From her mother Carolina learned that less is more, and this is what gives her fashion designs an aura of mystery and sensuality. Carolina Herrera’s fashion designs speak in a whisper and you know exactly what they’re saying.

As long as you have set yourself up with nice accommodation in advance, say a hotel on the beach, or something less refined, you can eliminate the final factor which could possibly cause anxiety and ensure that you are completely free to simply relax. There are a range of outstanding locales available to the inquisitive tourist, from tropical terrain to dazzling city coastlines. Visit your agent to catch a glimpse of all the luxurious hotels, fantastic locations, and amazing deals available to you.

When it comes to the wealth of the options you have for beach holidays, go with ‘whatever floats your boat’, but just remember not to let time keep track of you. Lose yourself in a place where the sun and the moon sparkle off warm waters, and where the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep at night. With all that beaches have to offer - surf, sand, sun and relaxation - it’s clear why beach holidays will never become a thing of the past.

So why not make your next holiday a beach holiday? It might be seen as unadventurous, but for relaxing in awe-inspiring sunrises and glorious sunsets it’s tough to beat.

Although most of us don’t grow up in a fairy tale world like Carolina, if you have a real talent and a desire to join in the fashion world there are many opportunities available. An education is essential to enter the world of fashion design.

Fashion school insiders relate that professional instructors

Recently, a U.S. News annual survey revealed that The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has shifted up as the top U.S. school for fashion art programs. After several changes since its inception, The Art Institute has transferred to an iconic location along Michigan Avenue, which maintains its spot as the biggest and most famous museum-school in the United States. Cynthia Rowley, Halston and Gemma Kahng used to study in these institutions to further their craft.

In the Indian subcontinent, the National Institute of Fashion Technology is known to be the best fashion design school, which offers fashion technology curricula, from which a three-year course in fashion design for apparel can be acquired. The Pearl Academy of Fashion, with a center in UAE tucked under its belt, is also noted for its approach toward fashion studies.

Television functions much like the internet when it comes to fashion trends. Unless you live in Los Angeles or New York, chances are that you are completely out of the loop when it comes to the most stylish fashion trends. Year after year, LA and NY set many of the most interesting fashion trends thanks to the celebrities, designers and generally wealthy people that live in these cities. Whenever you turn your television to a show that takes place in one of these hip cities, you can easily check out what the stars are wearing.

Fashion school insiders relate that professional instructors educate on the technical and artistic aspects of the fashion subjects. A few related courses even include one year of working for the fashion business, as immersion and exposure to the industry. Fashion houses are also visited abroad as part of the program.

Most of the time, people who want to become top designers will work with other designers and gain hands-on experience.

According to statistics, most fashion designers earn an average of $13,000 to $93,000, depending on how in-demand their products are. Apparel, notions and price goods industries employ the largest numbers of fashion designers.

So if you want to end up in the fashion business, bear in mind that it’s not just about luck, but about hard work and a whole lot of dedication.
